zen kitties

Pretty gowns, pretty hair, pretty space and little white kittens! I can't stop staring at this shoot for Marie Claire China. More specifically the video of the shoot which is also wonderfully done by Amber Gray. Want to have a bright, delightful little day? I suggest you watch it too!(Because I've gone back to replay it an embarrassing number of times already)

Vibing Mathias Goeritz

Today I ate my weight in sushi and now I am just trying to keep myself busy, so I don't fall in to a coma forever. Hi blog.

So over here giant gold art was mentioned. I didn't think much of it at first, but later when I was thinking for the billionth time how fairly empty our walls are (STILL), it started haunting me.

Originally I wanted to go out and buy a giant canvas and paint that mofo gold. But that stuff is EXPENSIVE. (Especially the size I wanted. I am talking like minimum 6ft long, please). Then I thought I'd go to ikea and pick up one of their decently sized RIBBA frames for 35 bucks. But then I got there and realized I wasn't even 100% sure about this whole thing, so I just opted for a 13 dollar NYTTJA frame. You know, to test the waters. (As you can see, I was just being a big sissy about the whole thing)

I used gold paint that I had hanging around here, but it's from the dollar store.

Conclusion? I like. I like it a lot. I could do without the black frame. It also looks cool with some of the other gold-y stuff in this space

So hopefully someday soon there will be a new post presenting a bigger and more badass version of this one. (As soon as I get my act together and build a frame with all the scrap wood we have here. I am awesome at stretching canvas, forreals.)

Enough of those COLOR shenanigans

I'm reverting back to my favorite. BLACK. BLACK FOREVER. And with gold. On a scale of 1 to 10 how luxurious and HOT is that black marble with gold veins? Yes, a 12. I want to get black marble with gold veins installed on my kitchen counter tops. and sit on them. all day.

My fake black & gold room:

(FORM, TX/ASSEMBLAGE, IL/CUPBOARDS & ROSES, MA/CARINI LANG, NY/ANTIQUE & ARTISAN CENTER, CONNECTICUT/ELTE/JAYSON HOME & GARDEN)

That rug is really, really good.

and if you really want that monster gold piece of art (like I do) you'll have to look up Mathias Goeritz. Warning: I think it costs GAZILLIONS (80,000 - 120,000). Have a good cry. Butyoucanprobablymakeitfor100bucks.

These Viviane Sassen photos for Dazed & Confused just kill me. I can't get enough color lately. Like, crazy amounts of break the rules.

This is what I'm feeling:

Yellow and gold and green

Fuck, it is sweaty. I hope I am dead by the time the summers reach like 70 degrees. I hope I am long long gone. Surprisingly enough I am full of creative brains today and I can't shut it off... weird. Maybe I am going to have a stroke later. Feel bad, buy me the following (and yes, I want those green suede boots too. Especially those. I love boots all the time, even when it is feels like 48 degrees.)

Meow

Animals are HOT right now. Well, I guess they've always been hot. But lately I am noticing it more & more in interiors. and I am not hating it. I am a lover. Always have been. See below: some pieces from my own closet.

Muahahaha.

Generally everything I love in fashion, I love in interiors. But I must admit animal print is sort of scary for me to bring over into interiors. It can look real tacky real fast.

But I decided to play around with it. Here are 3 ideas I whipped up

(These guys are ROUGH)

Leopard print rug, yum. I picture this sort of thing working in an architecturally beautiful home with tons of character. If you threw this into my cookie cutter townhome it would look like a hookers drug den, true facts

Leopard print chair. I love throwing this animal print stuff in with a crazy pop of color. That orange campaign style desk is wild and needs to get into my world. ASAP.

Zebra print wallpaper, sort of scary. I think the lilac sofa tones it down a bit, especially with those awesome lime sconces. Sort of girly? Or maybe the whole space would look like the inside of a Forever 21? (Bad, bad)

Pink+Orange

Being a big ol coral brain today. coral coral coral coral.
Peachy, pinky, tangeriney. All of it. Sold.

That's my coral brains layed out as visually pleasing as possible for you. How visually pleasing is Acne Menswear SS2012? Yeah, yum.

And then me and my big coral brain skipped on over to our favorite place (1stdibs, hello). Then this happened:

Carpet: Elte

That coffee table is a little fugly, but some ADHD kicked in and suddenly putting pieces of tiny expensive furniture into tiny fake expensive room was hard work. Gave up. Could we take a second to admire a close up of that side table though?

Va va voom. Yum. (That's the only source link you get, ADHD ate the rest. But if you're sour about it just ask me for links, you big sour face)

Blue brains

This is a STEAL for 200 bucks. I'm sort of a little mad I had to stumble across this during my craigslist rounds... nooooooo room. When it comes to beautiful things I can't really have, I'd just rather be kept in the dark, ok? I hope someone awesome jumps on this deal. and I hope they know what to do with it! Hi!!! Email me!
It is a beauty as is. I am in love with the shape of it and the detail, and would totally keep it as is. The possibilities are endless but I picture this sofa with black walls & brass accents, a dark sophisticated room (maybe even a little dusty yeah?) with marble floors. Tulip side tables? Wall to wall bookshelves? A game of chess? A cigar? A basset hound?

Now I have blue sofa brains.

my past week in cellphone photos

The beach. One thing in toronto that I will never tire of is definitely the waterfront. Also, the time spent here has now caused a ri-diculous need to check craigslist daily for boats for sale.

I am loving this color combo lately.

Cramped basement antique shops. Shopping for chairs forever.

Gross. But I want to go swimming in one lately. but gross.

Thriftin'

Part A.
Things I wanted but didn't get:

This crazy pendant.

This crazy stuff.

Part B.
Things I wanted and took home with me:

Giant lamp shade. Black, and velvety. Black + velvet = mine. $1.99, hell yeah!!!!! I'd been wanting to replace one in the living room, and this is perfect.

Copper tray. Just because.

Vase. Boring. but it's this nice olive color that I have trouble saying no to.

A giant glass jug. Also $1.99 boo yeah. Want to vibe this:

Also a couple of months ago I was out of town visiting my parents & picked up this chair for 20 bucks. When they came to visit moi this past weekend they brought it with them! (I will buy a truck. I will buy a truck. I will buy a truck)

It glows.

Minimal movie posters

Movie posters are soooo college dorm room. But I think with the right framing, some of these minimal designs could look prettttty cool. Some are a little too minimal if you ask me, but I think in the right space they could be just the right touch.

Tons more to go through:
