Caring

A brief time out from house stuff.
My brain is heating up and also sometimes I don't care what my house looks like at all.
Just sometimes.

Some things I do care about

I care about this A LOT. The colors in this shot are really good.
Electric blue, a nice grey, touch of pink, and of course... gold.

This. So good.

 this.
This being having some beverages and gardening on my little balcony.
Note: I know nothing about gardening. but it was fun, and my hands are dirty.

This too. Mostly just the dresser, it's fancy hardware and trim. and the hat. Especially the hat.

aaaaaaaand
my professional website/portfolio.
which was one of those things where I was like
"oh yeah- whip a website up in 48 hours no problem at all!"
but really it has taken a week.
but is about an inch away from being completed. and I'm super proud of it!

Craig

Hit up Craigslist.
But the Buffalo/Syracuse area... was thinking of taking a mini roadtrip away with the boyfriend/hit up some flea markets and also trying to score any fancy stuff in that area via Craigslist.
Then realized I'm not sure how it would go trying to come back over the boarder with large pieces of furniture?

Oh well.

This is some shit I want

Sofa table. $150
It's skinny and long... perfect for my upstairs hallway. Also good for a foyer.
Or maybe in a bedroom if you need a nice little spot for your computer.
Do this

Thinking of DIYing an urchin chandelier for my office. and who doesn't love a poodle statue? Maybe satan.
(and now I am not totally sure what I meant by "moss cup" but you know what I meant)

Pretty dresser. $275 price negotiable.
The hardware on it is so good.
The wood is also good. But that is a lot of wood... so I would paint it

Or Farrow & Ball Hague Blue

and use it as a tv dresser/media/storage. Like this:

just whatever you do leave the hardware the way it is.
It's beautiful and if you screw it up you will burn in hell for 12 consecutive eternities.

Neat chairs. Brass detailing. $50 each
I wish there were more.

I keep going between "they are ugly" and "they are cool"
also.. they are a persian rug for your butt.
But if you really hate the fabric it's an easy switch

Paint them glossy black and redo cushion in this

or leave the chairs white and do a faux ostrich. in hermes orange

then it's a hermes bag for your butt.

later.

Will return with project girl den progress.

More Ikea tricks

Graduated. With honors.
High fives... fist pumps... dancing... etc.
I am scared/happy/relieved/excited.

Went to Ikea to have a looksie at some desks/table options for project girl den.
Walked by this guy and stopped in my tracks

Vittsjo shelving unit. Good lines, good size, and good price ($90). I really want to get one (or two) of these and give it a gold makeover. Spray paint? Gold leaf?

Right?

Or the skinnier version for $50.

and I scored some large scale zebra print fabric. Thinking of reupholstering a Louis XVI style armchair in it. For project girl den. But it'll be my first try at reupholstering so my hopes are not too high.

In my dreams it appears as this:

But in reality I'll probably end up slaughtering the fabric, the chair, and a hand.

We'll see.

The beginning of a bathroom

The beginning of that time of year...

;-)

I suck ass at decorating for Christmas time. I'll still try.

Holiday warmth and glitter and sparkle and style I can jam to:

Malachite

This is a chateau in Normandy that used to be a hunting lodge. It looks mysterious and amazing.

BOOM. Didn't expect that. Charles Spada magic.

Boners.

Chairs upholstered in tiger silk velvet. Meow. I want them.
You can buy them for me here. My life can not go on without them.

Current project. This is what's on my mind. That is a big chunk of malachite. These greens - I am all about them lately. and burlwood. Wish I could source a fantastic burlwood coffee table in Toronto that I didn't hate.

asemic calligraphy by Cecil Touchon. Amazing right?
The circular one reminded me of chairs I spotted in Kelly Wearstlers studio.

Kelly doesn't care.

Bedroom... go!

So in August it'll be a year of living in our home and a year of leaving the bedroom as justaplacetosleep. I've mostly just been focusing on the spaces that eeeeeveryone always sees, but I mostly just had no idea what to do in there. It's not very big, I guess it's just right for what we need in there. It does however have a beautiful giant window.

But today I finally stumbled onto a piece of inspiration that motivated me to decorate my bedroom.

BOOM.

White, airy, minimalistic. My favorite forever, and also great for the small space. Black window frames in a white room make me think of NYC apartments. Lofty. Plus, there's so much black throughout my home that it needs to be incorporated into the bedroom somehow.

Black glossy paint for the window frame!!

Currently:
White bedding - check.
Modern frames - check.
Lighting - check.

The only cost should be on black glossy paint and some of this:

So the current lighting and frames will get a makeover.

I know I said that I wouldn't look at paint ever again after working my butt off on my stair renovation. But I guess I lied.

Red hair Don't care

Wowza. Unfortunately my rockstar design skills do not stretch as far as web design, so this new blog header will have to do for the blog "makeover". Centering things on a web page is far more complicated than one would think. Up yours, internet.

NEW PROJECT BREWS. See the tragedy pictured above? That is our current situation, which poisons our living room, dining room, and kitchen. Why anyone would ever install a pinky ceramic tile anywhere will be another mystery to add to my list of mysteries (Why do men always leave kitchen cabinet doors open? Why do people go crazy for owl decor? Just to name a few). While it would bring me pure happiness to hammer that shit up, this is not a project for us. So while the whole situation currently floats somewhere between Home Depot, Lowes, or an independent contractor (Call me back call me back call me back), I am simply focusing on the fun stuff. Window shopping!

These are the results:

Are these my dream floors for our little home? Most fucking definitely!!!!!!!!!
Light, airy, wood grain deliciousness, simple, no funny stuff.

Does my significant other agree?
Will they still be loved in a few years?
Do they look too "unfinished"?

Others up for discussion:

Terribly glossy white? CORK?!?!!!

To be continued (Hopefully sooner rather than later. But, you know)
