Pillow talk

I've wanted a giant spooky portrait for as long as I can remember.
and by that I mean for 3-4 years now. But still.

All have been ugly or dumb but mostly just too pricey.

Then the other day I stumbled upon this in a nearby thrift store

My boyfriend loves him, I love him, win win.

It was only 30 bucks which is a stupid annoying price for the thrift store I found it in but overall it was an AWESOME price. It is also a great size ... don't let the photo fool you. It's 3x2 which I know isn't that big but for my teeny tiny bedroom it is BIG.

So I made up a wee mood board. A few of them.

Right now we have a boring ikea malm bed which works just fine so instead of replacing it I am going to hack it. A hybrid of this and this. I am totally up for the DIY challenge. Upholstered in linen.
Those aren't our current sconces, but really similar.
The walls will be painted glossy black-ish.
Ikea RAST nightstand hack. (Currently don't have nightstands. You're right, we are animals)

 Sassy red velvet lumbar pillows.
I love this combination because it's fancy and gender neutral. Not that I give a hoot if my boyfriend thinks our room is too girly... but sometimes I try to be fair. But now that I keep looking at this one it feels too masculine. but not enough to bother me.

I feel like Bates would approve

And since my bedroom is approximately the size of a can of tuna, I'm going to add fun with pillows.
and I am one of those weirdos that makes the bed in the morning so no fear of it ever looking not perfect

Carrying on...

Isn't that polka dot pillow ever so sweet? I love all of this.

This one here is for the "pillows are dumb, show me the orange campaign nightstands" people.

We've lived in this house for nearly 2 years now and the bedroom has been neglected big time.
Finding this portrait was a total inspirational kick in the ass.
Piece of cake. Challenge accepted. Bring it on.

(Easier said than done)

There. an entire post about pillows.
and now everyone will know my room is secretly just a bunch of dumb tricked out ikea furniture.

Suck it.

Pearl colored velvet

Craving cooler temperatures! And bright white, big open spaces. Minimalism, with the tiniest touch of warmth.

How good would this dining space be in a big white room? Pearl colored velvet chair multiplied by 6, please, to sit around the mother of fabulous tables (marble & chrome). White painted wood floor, full-wall wainscoting. Old apothecary chest to display a monster sized collection of blue and white porcelain. Opposite wall: A grand carved mirror sitting on massive ornate fireplace. Yes? Can I please have the fireplace too? I'm greedy. Large black floor lamp to shake things up, but keep with clean lines. Dead.

pantera - the sleep

This pile of stuff probably looks crazy and doesn't make any sense but this is (one of) my dream bedrooms. Delicate/rustic/modern/cozy come to mind for me. How great is that wallpaper? I am loving the neutrals with the pop of 2 colors (see: bench & chairs). and yes, I have yet to post photos of our newly decorated bedroom but after painting the frame I realized there is more to it than some gold spray paint. so it is still very boring and I refuse to reveal its current state and become vulnerable to you guys like that!!!! No way! But soon. But don't hold your breath.

Cakeface

Things that would be great right now: chocolate cake. 3 slices, minimum. And the whole shebang above... to be mine. Well, it is mine bitches, but I mean I need it to harry potter itself off my laptop screen and into my HOUSE. I lazily began it this morning when I was thinking about grasscloth wallcovering for the guest bathroom. Which led to pondering over it for the bedroom. and then I went back to grasscloth, with pops of neon.
AND THEN I found that perfect red sofa on acid, and then the zebra barrel back chairs were discovered and hellooooooo chinoiserie. And dear gods everywhere please know I will give up chocolate cake for the rest of my life if you leave me a beautiful campaign dresser while I sleep. (butIcantpromiseanything)

black gold black gold black

Enough of those COLOR shenanigans

images via my pinterest

I'm reverting back to my favorite. BLACK. BLACK FOREVER. And with gold. On a scale of 1 to 10 how luxurious and HOT is that black marble with gold veins? Yes, a 12. I want to get black marble with gold veins installed on my kitchen counter tops. and sit on them. all day.

My fake black & gold room:

(FORM, TX/ASSEMBLAGE, IL/CUPBOARDS & ROSES, MA/CARINI LANG, NY/ANTIQUE & ARTISAN CENTER, CONNECTICUT/ELTE/JAYSON HOME & GARDEN)

That rug is really, really good.

and if you really want that monster gold piece of art (like I do) you'll have to look up Mathias Goeritz. Warning: I think it costs GAZILLIONS (80,000 - 120,000). Have a good cry. Butyoucanprobablymakeitfor100bucks.

Blue brains

This is a STEAL for 200 bucks. I'm sort of a little mad I had to stumble across this during my craigslist rounds... nooooooo room. When it comes to beautiful things I can't really have, I'd just rather be kept in the dark, ok? I hope someone awesome jumps on this deal. and I hope they know what to do with it! Hi!!! Email me!
It is a beauty as is. I am in love with the shape of it and the detail, and would totally keep it as is. The possibilities are endless but I picture this sofa with black walls & brass accents, a dark sophisticated room (maybe even a little dusty yeah?) with marble floors. Tulip side tables? Wall to wall bookshelves? A game of chess? A cigar? A basset hound?

Now I have blue sofa brains.

These colors make me feel good

A page from my portfolio (That I have been working on lately like a crazy person).

Sunday, March 13

I have dining room feeeeeeeeever. No actually, I really do have a fever. But I'm just lucky this sinus infection/head cold of mass destruction caught me on a slow weekend. But I am still very much in need of serious dining room inspiration, because ours is just sad. It's definitely another one of the very neglected spaces in our home that has gone (mostly) untouched. Poor thing! Poor us.

And so it begins, the hunt for cheap/free dining room furniture. Anything I can get my grimy fingers on. Magical, but grimy.

P.s. this table? I think I need it to live.

greyscale

Feeling grey. Again. Me and grey will always be friends!
And I would straight up sell a kidney right now for a vintage chesterfield. Perfectly worn in leather and nailhead trim, mmmmmm.
