Project funtimes. A 4000 sq ft Toronto cafe that also holds fashion pop-up shops.

I've never been to Paris. But what I imagine it must feel like to sit in a paris cafe... that's what this cafe will feel like. It better. Or else.

Cafe inspiration throw up:

Plaid drapery. Mirrored cabinetry and glossy subway tile for front counter. Wall of banquette seating - perhaps in ostrich leather. Thonet chairs. Wall paneling for charm. Brass chairs thrown in - fashion pop-up shop displayed on brass clothing racks. Bubbly chandeliers.

What do we think about a bit of orange velvet?

Valentines but not cliche. Everyone knows penguins mate for life yes? Whimsy and fashion. I had way too much fun during the whole process.

IDS12 for me can be summed up in 1 word: "MEH". Except for these Elte rugs. Yum.

Designing a window display for a school project. COOLEST. That there be some outfit ideas for the window mannequins. I wish for the male to look like Chuck Bass. Slap me.

I know I said I give up on plants but I bought an orchid. It is doing suspiciously well. I pray for it daily. (I painted the pot. I'm fancy)

After many battles with Murphys law I fiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally framed and hung the Vogue covers. Bow before it.

15 ended up being too many and unnecessary. 12 is a good number.

The grind

The holidays ended and on our drive back to the city I took photos of (one of) my dream homes



A FARM. Minus the work. Mostly just the middle-of-nowhere and the beauty and animals. Minus the work. (I am still ironing out the details on this dream...)


Then I began my mini project I spoke about back in August. (Yeah, things are slow around here)

I ran (not walked) to Ikea when I heard about their 50% frames sale. I grabbed 15 Nyttja frames because I like the thickness of the frames and mostlybecausetheyarethecheapest. Then I started spraypainting them gold. and then I ran out of paint just before finishing.
I am going to restock on gold paint this weekend and fingers crossed... hang them.


and then this little 1950s leopard arrived in my mailbox from etsy seller kissavintagedesign

I could not be more thrilled with myself for spending money on a porcelain leopard. It makes me smile.

Malachite

This is a chateau in Normandy that used to be a hunting lodge. It looks mysterious and amazing.

BOOM. Didn't expect that. Charles Spada magic.

Chairs upholstered in tiger silk velvet. Meow. I want them.
You can buy them for me here. My life can not go on without them.

Current project. This is what's on my mind. That is a big chunk of malachite. These greens - I am all about them lately. and burlwood. Wish I could source a fantastic burlwood coffee table in Toronto that I didn't hate.

Crazy talk

I love that when my summer and "freedom" is coming painfully close to ending, THAT is when my mind explodes with all these great house projects all at once. Murphys law follows me everywhere. Fuck you, murphy.

First up:



So we watched my boyfriend get some nice shelving for himself. Now I want some too. For the living room. I'd love to try the pipe and flange style but it's not really the best option for this room. Probably going to look at some shelving tracks. One thing is for sure I want the whole thing to look like one piece, not separate shelves.

What a beauty. I'm sure long black shelving tracks will be same effect, no? I kept asking my dad that when I was telling him about it, and he kept going "what EFFECT? You just want some SHELVES, right?". Dads. (I go to him for help with most projects around here though. THANKS dad!)

Fancy trim work. Would look great in our bedroom. Couldn't be that hard, right?

and lastly:


Yeah, so what, I want to jump on the diy painted rug trend. Eat me. I just have to decide between the ikea MORUM or the ERSLEV. and yes, I want to do a chevron, eat me again. But I want it to look ikat-ish. I know, why do I torture myself like this?
